“Management of EU funded projects"

“Management of EU funded projects European requirements Sharing excellence”

Berlin, 23th & 24th June 2008

The essential know-how on the special features of EU funded projects will be the subject of the International Workshop for the public servants and employees in charge of project management from all European Member states.

Managing EU-funded projects became an essential tool of implementing structural funding policy. In the 2007-2013 programming period the EU provides the Member States not only with a huge budget of 308 Billions Euro but also with a new approach towards the regional policy. The actual architecture of structure funds on the one hand gives additional funding opportunities; on the other hand it requires new strategies in management of EU-funded projects.

The national and regional public institutions receive more responsibilities regarding implementation of the national operational programmes and projects. To ensure their realisation authorities on multiple levels have to face new challenges. New regulations require namely more efficient and more aim-concentrated utilization of the funding opportunities. Therefore excellent project strategies and management are of the highest importance.

Although numerous EU programmes show special features, the implementation of projects in practice follows some common rules. Similar procurement procedures, implementation difficulties as well as control and evaluation tools allow both the exchange of the experience and the sharing of best practices. For the public bodies on national and regional level, the research institutes and regional developing agencies it is therefore crucial to handle the special problematic of the EU-funded project management.

This workshop provides necessary knowledge on project management with a focus on EU-funded projects. The aim of the course is to learn how to plan and to implement projects and programmes according to the EU funds regulations regime and how to improve the project strategies in order to ensure a better implementation performance.

The course is thought first of all for public servants and other employees of institutions and companies with little experience in EU funded project management. Beginners with no experience are also welcome.
