“2nd International Cohesion Fund Conference”
Berlin, 8th and 9th October 2008
The public servants of 15 Member States will meet on the 8th and 9th October 2008 in Berlin during the “2nd International Cohesion Fund Conference”. The Conference focuses on the implementation of the new cohesion politics and the specific field of financing the transport and environment related projects.
The new architecture of the structural funds gives further impulses in the workflow of the public servants in charge of implementing the Cohesion Fund. The reformation of the cohesion policies during the programming period 2007-2013 gave the former fund administration a new direction and has posed new challenges. Through emphasis on the implementation of the Lisbon Agenda and more consideration of the problems and peculiarities of the regions the Member States shall be now enabled to implement the programs in a better and more efficient way.
In 2007 public servants in charge of the Cohesion Fund from all over Europe met in Berlin to discuss the fund management issues and to highlight its main practical problems of new regulations. The participants met representatives of the European Commission and worked on specific implementation issues
This year’s conference will concentrate on first experiences in implementation of the co-funded projects under new regulations. Specific aspects of the transport and environment sector projects will be the main focus. Experts from different countries will share their experience and know-how. Lectures, workshops and discussions will allow the participants to gain additional knowledge and to get new solutions for regional problems from the best case studies. They will also be given rich conference material. The 2-days conference will take place in an exclusive venue in Berlin.
